We believe in the power of collaboration. We know from personal experience that finding the right partner or co-founder is essential to building a successful business.
Whether it’s the naysayers telling you – “this will never work”…
Or the pre-mature kudos from your friends and family who admire your guts to go for what you want…
Not to mention the rush you get when you take that brave step to try and bring your idea to life…
The reality, is that being a small business owner, or first-time founder, can be a daunting, lonely place.
From trying to identify your market to getting your first customers…
From website design and copywriting to bookkeeping and accounting…
From securing a premises to product or service development…
Right down to knowing how on Earth to get started with forming a company in the first place!
When you’re on your own, the buck stops with you for all of this and more!
I get it – I’ve been where you are now – felt the same mixture of terror and exhilaration when that entrepreneurial seizure hits you:
That feeling when you realise you have no choice but to strive to make your vision a reality.
And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
It’s vital if your business is going to have even a remote chance of success.
Your dreams and grand plans must be tethered to reality.
So you avoid making decisions that may lead to a fatal crash – one your business won’t recover from – and might deeply wound you.
You see, I disagree with the concept and bravado of micro business owners martyring themselves for their companies:
It’s not noble and it’s not cool…trust me, I know!
All it leads to, is you putting yourself last and wondering how you’re going to keep a roof over your head and paying your bills when
you’re totally burnt out.
As Seth Godin says – if you can’t swim – you make a lousy lifeguard!
Meaning your team and customers will not get the experience and attention they deserve.
And in the worst-case scenario – you’ll no longer have either!
So your business must be built on strong foundations to provide the stability for your creativity to flow.
Allowing you to lean in to do the hard work required to grow something useful, cool and life-changing for both you and the people your business serves.
If your business can
1 – Sustain you and your team
2 – Provide greater and greater value to its community (a.k.a customers) over its lifetime
It will be profitable for you and your shareholders and give it the best chance of surviving and thriving for years to come.
LIFE IS A TEAM GAME
